The last Hallenstein Glasson store openings in New Zealand for a while were in central Christchurch in late 2016.

Hallenstein Glasson has reported a 36 per cent rise in online summertime trading.

But the threat to its physical stores is a slow burn with online sales overall about 8 per cent, chairman Warren Bell said.

The company is well represented in New Zealand – it has six outlets for each brand between Upper Hutt and central Wellington.

The most recently opened shops in this country were developed for the company by major shareholder and director Tim Glasson in central Christchurch, and opened in November 2016.
